The southernmost of the six towns, Longton was historically the centre of the area's bone china industry and is home to the Gladstone Pottery Museum, one of the best-preserved Victorian pottery works in the country. Housing is predominantly Victorian terraced streets built for pottery workers, with some later development further out.

Rental demand is steady and largely local, drawn to Longton's more affordable terraced housing and its own railway station on the line to Derby and beyond.

Longton's affordability and its own train station make it a common starting point for first-time investors, though as with Burslem, condition and specific street matter more than the area average.
